Énigmatique et fascinant, le Mugham, (ou musique savante azérie) trouve un nouveau souffle grâce à une nouvelle génération de musiciens qui dédient leur vie à cet art millénaire exigeant basé sur un paradoxe apparent : une improvisation suivant des règles strictes. Ces quatre jeunes artistes - Arzu Aliyeva et Babek Niftaliyev au chant, Elchin Hachimov au târ et Elnur Ahmadov au kamantché - ont tous suivi l’enseignement des maîtres au conservatoire de Bakou avant de connaître une gloire bien méritée dans leur pays grâce à l’émission télévisée « L’académie de Mugham ». Cette longue et étrange expérience de médiatisation a soudé leur amitié et leur a permis de parfaire une complicité pour atteindre cette harmonie qui, sur scène, transcende leur musique. Mugham, the Azeri learned music, is a mysterious and fascinating art. It has been given new momentum thanks to a younger generation of musicians who are dedicated to this thousand year old demanding form based on an apparent paradox: an improvisation following strict rules. The four young artists, singers Arzu Aliyeva and Babek Niftaliyev, Elchin Hachimov and Elnur Ahmadov respectively playing the tar and the kemancha, all studied under the masters of the Baku music school. Then they became deservedly famous in their country through the television programme “The Mugham Academy”. Such a long and unusual exposure to the media has forged their strong friendship and enabled them to achieve an artistic complicity resulting in the perfect harmony which, on the stage, magnifies their music.
