L’édition pirate du célèbre recueil La Stravaganza de Vivaldi, frauduleusement publiée en 1730 à Londres, témoigne de l’immense popularité des œuvres du Prêtre Roux. Dite Walsh and Hare pour la différencier de l’édition d’Amsterdam, c’est avec cette version condensée – six concerti agrémentés de deux ouvertures d’opéras - que le flamboyant Fabio Biondi effectue son retour au Théâtre de la Ville. Un dix-huitième concert qui marque aussi pour l’apôtre de Vivaldi un important événement discographique : la publication d’Ercole sur Termodonte, le 23e (et inédit) opéra du Prêtre Roux. The pirate edition of Vivaldi’s famous collection La Stravaganza, which was fraudulently published in 1730 in London, shows how popular the works of the Red-Haired Priest were. It is called “Walsh and Hare” to differentiate it from the Amsterdam edition and the flamboyant Fabio Biondi is back at the Théâtre de la Ville with this condensed version - six concerti complemented by two opera overtures. His eighteenth concert here also marks an important recording event for Vivaldi’s modern apostle: the release of Ercole sul Termodonte, the twenty-third (and hitherto unrecorded) opera by the Red-Haired Priest.
