Théâtre Dromesko Company

Arrêtez le monde, je voudrais descendre
All publics, from 13 years old
In partnership with the Monfort theater

A donkey, a goat, a hen, a small pig and a charming little goldfish in its tank… What we have in front of us is a furry, feathered and scaly Prévert-like inventory in a hypothetical veterinary clinic's waiting room whose boss could be called Noah. It is with the strong image of this surreal prologue that Igor and Lily devised the opening of Stop the World, I'd Like to Get Off, the latest creation of the Dromesko Company. A few years ago Igor and Lily freed themselves from the bars of their famous ‘Dromesko Aviary’ to set up their stage under the roofs of ideal wooden shacks. The latest one to date is so vast and wide that it conjures up visions of the life-saving Ark. Accompanied by the strings of Alexander Balanescu's gypsy orchestra, the audience travels the intimate and the grandiose through the magic of a curiosity cabinet reminiscent of an enormous beetle. The creaking chimera is like a ship changing tack to fill its sails with better winds. Using the strength of pulleys to unfold its wooden elytra, the animal discovers a stage used as a pretext to acting out fantasies. The framework reminds us of the machines Leonardo da Vinci so uniquely designed. As for the contents, references mill about, from Peynet's lovers to Chagall's metaphorical landscapes, from grotesque frescoes to the occasional allusion to musicals. Only one certainty remains, no one will be able to destroy our capacity to dream as long as the merry-go-rounds keep spinning.
