KAUSHIKI CHAKRABORTHY CLASSICAL INDIAN SONG
in Tribute to Ustad Zakir Hussain

Divines octaves.
Kaushiki Chakraborthy needs no more introduction on the international music scene. Daughter of the illustrious Ajoy Chakraborthy from Patiala Gharana (school of Patiala), Kaushiki grew up in a world bathed in music. She began to learn the sargam (musical notes) as early as two years old and made her stage debut at the age of seven. Today Kaushiki is an accomplished woman and mother of one with a degree in musicology and philosophy. She is one of the mainstays of classical hindustani (north Indian) music today. Gifted with an exceptional voice, able to move with ease through over three octaves, she embodies both the heritage and the future of Indian raga-s. Involved in numerous cultural events in India and abroad, from cinema to television, she tirelessly rallies others to her divine cause: that of music.
