CAMILLE THOMAS, YOM
MUSIQUES SACRÉES
Can a description be given of a dialogue between a composer/clarinetist inspired by Eastern and Middle Eastern influences and a classical cellist playing the great composers of the western repertoire? Yom and Camille Thomas do have points in common: they have their virtuoso skills and intensity when playing, but the two worlds of music they live in could only ever coincide in a totally original program combining and reflecting the two unique artistic personalities. They share a love of sacred music and that is now the basis for the concert. Compositions by Yom stand as prayers stripped of the weight of religious dogma from the past. In response are pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, selected and arranged, plus forays into traditional European music. Here is an invitation to experience human emotions as two souls laid bare speak out, unassumingly, addressing the heart of the world.
