Songs and lutes from the steppes: a new generation of bards.

These singers are called either “bakhsi” or “aqyn”: bards – in masculine and feminine forms - poets-musicians transmitting such epics and captivating their audience through singing and lute enchanting rhythms, accompanied by vielle jingles. Coming from Khorassan and Iranian Turkmenistan, Yalda Abbasi and Mohammadgeldi Geldinejad, also known as Oghlan Bakhshi, will be joined by Uljan Baybusinova, Raushan Orazbayeva and Murat Abugazi from Kazakhstan: the best young generation bards will take us on a journey from the north to the south of the Central Asia steppes
