Mouth Piece
Ant Hampton, Rita Pauls • performance
Ant Hampton (English) and Rita Pauls (Argentinian) have something in common: Germany. The former lives there and is trying to obtain citizenship in order to stay; the latter had never even set foot there but is a German national through her grandparents who fled Berlin and the Nazis in the 1930s. Together, they set out with bags slung over their shoulders to discover this promised land and its people. The asked the same question to everybody they met : “What do you think should be told? " Living the process of assimilation and trying to understand the convictions and opinions that drive German-speakers from all walks of life, they produced an experimental performance piece relaying the emotions and commentary they gleaned on their quest to absorb another culture.
