The musicians of the Orchestre de Paris create arrangements to revive the most beautiful standards of the American music composed from the 1920s to the 1950s. Get ready to swing with two works by Gershwin, the rhapsodic ballet An American in Paris, known for its Paris taxi horns, and the orchestral suite Catfish Row, taken from his opera Porgy and Bess, in which classical and popular music are brilliantly combined. The concert continues with spellbinding songs, Georgia and I Put a Spell on You, which achieved the sublime in covers by Ray Charles and Nina Simone. And how could you resist dancing when you hear the music of the classic movie Singin’ in the Rain and Bernstein’s musical On the Town?
