With Elenit, Euripides Laskaridis has let his imagination run wild, an imagination filled with fabulous and grotesque animals, winged statues, people carousing, wild, wasted, with glamour, rock music, and even a wind turbine. Dancing on the edge of the precipice are so many figures, whether dwarf, giant or transvestite, parading in dazzling baroque costumes, with the bantering, jeering tone of marionette theater, Grand Guignol, and carnival. Building on his studies of architecture and film animation, he has devised a theater of weird and wonderful images, where monsters can be funny and even affectionate. Here is a danse macabre, for fun and for release. Simply unforgettable.
