Amit Noy, Ioanna Paraskevopoulou
FOCUS ON YOUNG CHOREOGRAPHERS #1
TWO CHOREOGRAPHERS FROM 2022 ARE BACK WITH NEW, ORIGINAL AND MASTERFUL WORKS.
How can we learn to live with things haunting us? Amit Noy tackles the repercussions of dramas in history and life as seen in his own family over three generations. The work has three acts: an amazingly subversive introduction by his grandmother, a new interpretation of George Balanchine’s ballet Agon by the choreographer, and the tale that his little sister sings, recounting her daily battle with obsessive disorders in a caustic musical parody. For Coconut Effect by Ioanna Paraskevopoulou, objects and movements produce sounds, as if they were acoustic illustrations of pictures from film archives. The choreographer from Greece, also an acclaimed dancer working with choreographers such as Christos Papadopoulos and Dimitris Papaioannou, has adapted the original trio to produce an ingenious ensemble work with distinctive humor, performed by a group of students from the Conservatoire.
