The revival of R.OSA (a title where the conjugation of the Italian verb “to dare” suggests a feminine ending) is an opportunity for audiences to see the magnificent performer from Naples, Claudia Marsicano, doing “ten exercises in virtuosity,” expressed so naturally with her generously endowed body, her voice and graceful movements, as she evokes a state of innocence where codified social rules have not yet been imposed, where the ideal female is not simply the “sad, straight line” as ruefully described by the novelist Colette.
