An Enchanting Duo

The encounter was unprecedented and a resounding success,when Derya Türkan took his bow to the three strings of the kamancha and launched a dialogue with the strings of the bağlama, the long-necked lute saz played (without a plectrum) by Erdal Erzincan. And now there is a new dialogue. While the bağlama has achieved recognition as a solo instrument, for a long time it was only used to accompany ashiq bards, the people’s poets who once wandered the countryside. Together the two brilliant masters bring life to the tradition of Alevi-Bektaşi mystical music originally from Anatolia.
