Basa Ahaide

Meaning "beyond" in Basque, Haratago reveals the power of Basa Ahaide, the vocal expression of the mountain shepherds of the Basque Country. But here, traditional a cappella singing rubs shoulders with the sounds of Causas and Turkey, the result of the many travels and inspirations of vocalist and musician Julen Achiary (son of Beñat Achiary). Ancestral songs are blended with duduk and clarinet, hurdy-gurdy and banjo, and violone (double bass of viola da gamba). This astonishing experimental quartet breathes new life into the shepherd-singer's emotions about nature and life in the mountain pastures.
