Il Cimento dell’Armonia e dell’Inventione
VIVALDI AND VENICE HAVE INSPIRED AN ODE TO ELEMENTARY STRUCTURES AND THE PASSAGE OF THE SEASONS, AND IN THE FACE OF CLIMATE CHANGE.
In 1723, Vivaldi expressed his love of nature in the music of The Four Seasons. The baroque masterpiece fascinated the woman behind Rosas, and with composer Amandine Beyer they embarked on detailed musical analyses. Vivaldi has now inspired new visions of celestial configurations and natural structures, transposing them into choreographic codes. Then came contemporary ecological concerns: rising water levels threatening Venice la Serenissima, home to The Four Seasons and at the crossroads of Mediterranean civilizations. The response to history as recorded has come with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Radouan Mriziga, joining forces for the quartet in dance, both sharing the same fascination for geometric structures and models found in nature and music.
