Moving with Pina

Cristiana Morganti, acclaimed as one of the most emblematic dancers of the Tanztheater Wuppertal, devised Moving with Pina just one year after the passing of Pina Bausch, showing that art is an excellent vector for moving through bereavement. Her solo work is woven with excerpts from the repertoire that she danced with the company, telling the tale of her artistic and human experience with Pina, reviving that Bausch magic in eloquent movements and witty expression.

Jessica and Me

With Jessica and Me, Cristiana Morganti is addressing the quintessence of artistic identity. Through two voices, one poetic and the other unsettling, the soloist interviews herself, expounding her ideas on her relationship with the body, dance, and presence on stage, in a bid to find past memories, starting from her initial training in classical ballet and through to her encounter with Pina Bausch. The intrepid Amazon performs the exercise in introspection with honesty while also retaining the elegance of matters left unspoken.

Behind the Light

This third solo work was composed in the midst of an existential crisis, and ventures even further, exposing the female artist, casting light on matters usually left well hidden. The narrative is presented as a personal diary, but instead of written text there is dance, speech and video images. Generous as always, Cristiana Morganti moves from laughter to tears, revealing herself with sincerity and a touch of irony, recognizing the ups and downs of human existence, and life as dance is proclaimed as triumphant.
