BEETHOVEN MEETS KANYE WEST IN A DIALOGUE OF DANCE CELEBRATING THE CREATIVITY OF TWO VISIONARY COMPOSERS.

Emanuel Gat has been working as a creative artist for more than thirty years and has given proof that perfection of form can mean vitality, constantly improving a system of relationships, movements and energy emanating from a group where the performers create structural elements forming a miniature scale society under the observant eye of the choreographer. Emanuel Gat studied music before dance, and here he has provided a response to musical structures, making them a driving force for creativity. He has confronted Beethoven’s “Arietta,” the second movement of Piano Sonata No. 32, and Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo,” an album taking music beyond recognized boundaries, between sacred and profane. But Beethoven too had gone beyond the boundaries of the canonical form, with highly syncopated sections that could suggest dance. Emanuel Gat is taking up the challenge of a free approach to the sonata as a choreographic form.
