ESZTER SALAMON CARTE BLANCHE Norwegian National Contemporary Dance Company
Monument 0.10 : The Living Monument
MOVING FROM TABLEAUX VIVANTS TO MONUMENTAL CREATURES IN A PARADE OF WORLDS TRANSCENDING TIME AND CALLING UP MEMORIES BURIED IN THE PAST.
In MONUMENT 0.10, fifteen dancers with the Norwegian national company of contemporary dance invite the audience to dive into a world of dreams. On a journey of sensory and visual perception, each tableau has its own color, each universe develops its own narrative, its own landscape. Transformations gradually occur, memories are revived as each member of the audience confronts them instead of relegating them to the status of monuments. Constellations of animated and subtly enigmatic statues – baroque, oriental, surreal, futuristic and mythological – give rise to many a visual, historic and cultural evocation, causing different realms of the imagination to coincide. Movement may appear to be slow, but features a wonderful wealth of fabrics, lace, shapes and ornaments to be discovered in the course of an unbelievable meditation.
