STARTING WITH THE TROPICAL RAINFOREST, VOGUING AND NIJINSKY, AN INVITATION IS EXTENDED TO SEE THE WORLD FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE. DANCING AND EQUALITY.

For Marcela Levi and Lucía Russo, the Amazon rainforest is the cradle of polyrhythmic music, and the area where a number of different cultures come together. The “2 against 3” musical structure links Afro-Brazilian music and certain electronic genres for lively voguing sessions. The dance has also borrowed the erotic geometry of Egyptian art, in a style reminiscent of Nijinsky and his Faun. Elements from one continent are linked to another, then it transpires that one performer is a piano virtuoso, introducing works from the western classical repertoire to the array of cultures from around the world presented here, giving the impression that it may be possible to live together while being different, to undo hierarchies, blatant or subconscious and which can only lead to an impasse, in Brazil or anywhere else.
