SAŠA ASENTIĆ & COLLABORATORS
DIS DIS CONTACT • Premiere
A NEW APPROACH TO A FAMOUS WORK BY PINA BAUSCH, GOING STRAIGHT TO THE HEART.
Since 2017, Saša Asentić and the group Per.Art have been addressing and reinterpreting iconic choreographic works, adopting their own perspective as artists living with disability. Kontakthof by Pina Bausch, first performed in 1978, provides an inexhaustible subject to explore, and has now become the focus for this new work. But the audience should not expect a reconstruction, as with rearrangements for versions produced with senior citizens and teenagers. As persons invariably relegated to the fringe of mainstream society, the performers investigate Pina Bausch’s work and the reasons for it being so important. Who else could have a better understanding of situations of loneliness, rejection and distress as evoked with great subtlety in Kontakthof? Their apparent fragility brings inherent grace and light, illuminated by their boundless humanity.
