A TALE TOLD IN WORDS AND DANCE, CELEBRATING THE POWER OF LOVE AS A WAY OF DEFYING FATE, OFFERING INSPIRATION FOR THE VERY YOUNG.

Akil’s life is in the balance. He suffers from a congenital heart condition, and is not allowed to play the rough and tumble games the other children play. His mother Maswala works very hard, but cannot afford the operation that might save him. Then one day she discovers that athletes can earn huge amounts of prize money by winning a marathon. The next thing, there she is on the starting line. The story, based on the novel by Xavier-Laurent Petit, is performed with great delicacy by an actor and a virtuoso hip-hop dancer. It is a celebration of love, the power of love and resilience. The choice made to resist the forces of destiny, to escape the fickle finger of fate can be seen as an invitation to go beyond set paths and write the story of life as it appears in our dreams.
