Launching day
Where is Lithuania?
The season for “Lithuania in France” is a unique opportunity to discover a lively performing arts scene based on the upheavals and changes that have marked the history of the country. The works programmed have not attempted to avoid serious subjects, and are presented by a younger generation of artists, most of them women, challenging ideas unspoken, and showing great freedom of imagination and a focus on the future. Here is dramatic art, contemporary opera, dance, concerts, readings, an original experience in a prison, shows for young audiences, a street happening, a fashion parade, and more. The three-week program features an abundance of activities in different forms for all age groups, even as young as six months, in every part of the Théâtre de la Ville, including the vast lobby and the place du Châtelet outside.
An exceptional day to open the Théâtre de la Ville-Sarah Bernhardt and the Place du Châtelet to Lithuania and its artists, with a reading in the footsteps of Romain Gary in Vilnius, directed by David Lescot, a concert with pianist Augustinas Eidukonis, traditional songs, workshops, lectures, a dance solo, installations, happenings and many other surprises.…
