BHARATHI PRATHAP
Classical Hindustani singing • North India
A WAVE OF SUBTLE DISTINCTIONS AND MUSICAL DELIGHTS.
Bharathi Prathap was born and raised in Bengaluru (Bangalore), and by the age of seven her parents had introduced her to Carnatic music, the classical music tradition in southern India. With encouragement from her uncle, she went on to study Hindustani classical music from the north. She trained under a number of masters including Maruti Rao Inamdar, Rama Rao V. Naikou, and her teacher Lalith J. Rao who has been with her for 24 years. Further studies have included Bhavageete and Vachana, expanding her vast range of talents and sources of inspiration. Her love of music was such that she abandoned plans for a career as an electronic engineer, preferring to concentrate on music. Bharathi Prathap will be performing for the first time in France, presenting her captivating music of great simplicity and refinement, sometimes nostalgic, and always highly accomplished.
