The avant-garde composer and musician on the European scene, Gabriel Ferrandini, has been acclaimed for his visionary approach to percussion and his ongoing bid to have beat, texture and harmony merge. He was born in California in 1986; his father was from Mozambique, and his Brazilian mother was of Italian and Spanish descent, then when he was ten, the family moved to Lisbon. Over the years he has built a quite remarkable career, playing a key role with ensembles such as the RED Trio and the Rodrigo Amado Motion Trio, performing with them across the continents. There have been collaborations with many leading artists including Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Evan Parker, Hilary Woods, and Peter Evans. The man of music is also involved in the world of theater, and has created original works for the stage, combining sound, performance and installation art, and played a main role in the play As Far as Impossible by Tiago Rodrigues. With this, his first solo program, he is presenting a magnificent work mingling sound and light.
