THE VOICE FROM ANCESTRAL TIMES
Singer Shahram Nazeri (born in Iranian Kurdistan in the city of Kermanshah in 1950) epitomizes Iranian traditional music and has been dubbed the “Persian nightingale.” His father taught him to sing at a very young age, and later at the Tehran School of Music he won first prize for singing (in 1975). His voice has outstanding power and expressiveness, offering him a wealth of repertoire to explore, from Persian classical music to the mystical poems of Rumi, and Kurdish music. With perfect technical skills and heartfelt understanding, Shahram Nazeri can cross borders between musical genres, and has attracted large, diverse audiences. His wonderful talent and contagious love of music have earned him international acclaim, and he is now recognized as a grand ambassador for Persian music.
