Her voice is bewitching and greatly admired, covering so many ranges and bringing a natural quality of extraordinary power and lyricism to the music. Sílvia Pérez Cruz has always lived with the songs of Iberia and Latin America. She studied classical music and jazz, has been influenced by folk music, flamenco and fado, and has built up a body of work that defies any label for one single genre. As a musical storyteller, she is outstanding, and has recorded eight solo albums including 11 de Novembre and Granada, both of them gold records. She has a reputation as an author-composer and has done the original sound track of a number of films including Blancanieves by Pablo Berger, Cerca de tu casa by Eduard Cortés (winning a Gaudí award and a Goya award), and the animated film JOSEP by the French graphic artist Aurel which won her the 2021 Lumières award for the best film music. She also received the distinction for the best musical composition for the stage production of Grito Pelao by choreographer Rocío Molina, and in 2022 the national award for contemporary music presented by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. Her exceptional art has earned her recognition as one of the ultimate voices of freedom.
