The South African violinist Abel Selaocoe navigates a plethora of genres and styles and collaborates with world-renowned musicians and beatboxers. Abel combines virtuosic performance and improvisation, singing and body percussion, and a particular interest in organizing recital programs that draw attention to the connections between Western and non-Western musical traditions in order to help classical music reach a more diverse audience. In 2016, he founded the Chesaba trio, which is specialized in African music. He is also a cofounder of the Kabantu ensemble. Born in a South African township, Abel Selaocoe is a musical virtuoso who will make listeners discover the cello in unprecedented ways.
