TRADITIONAL PERSIAN MUSIC
Born in Kashan, in the heart of an Iran steeped in its architecture, music, and poetry, Mohammad Motamedi began playing the ney at a very young age, alone in the neighboring hills. Once in the grip of this inescapable passion, he was initiated into classical singing in Tehran by great musical personalities such as Alireza Lotfi. If listeners continue to marvel at the divine inspiration and profound emotional impact of Persian singing, it is because this art has skillfully managed to traverse history without falling into nostalgia for the past or setting expectations for an evolution that would only be fake. This we owe to the determination of a few enlightened singers like Mohammad Motamedi. Conscious that he is a link in the chain of transmission, Motamedi is able to express his own personality, which is both humble and profound, within the nomenclature of radif, the classic rule of Persian music, claiming for himself with ever greater conviction the inspired words of great poets ranging from Rumi to Fereydoon Moshiri and Hafez.
