It was September 2023 and the opening of the Lyon Biennale dance program, and it was the first time Christos Papadopoulos had been invited to create a work for large ensemble. How logical that his pointillist style inspired by nature’s complex interwoven structures should attain its true destiny. Twenty dancers with the Opéra de Lyon ballet troupe join together in movements of great subtlety, driven by an imperceptible force. The choreographer from Greece and poet of the art of gradually unraveling unison likes to show worlds verging on the invisible and has chosen the phenomenon of mycelium with its ramifications and complex of buried filaments providing a communication network for fungus.
