Cellist Marc Coppey is a regular guest artist, and this time he will be with his son Emmanuel playing the violin.

Cellist Marc Coppey is a regular guest artist at the Théâtre de la Ville, and will be performing with a young violinist who already has distinctions from the Conservatoire de Paris and competitions including Sofia and Plock, plus the Grand Prix of the Académie Ravel. And that young violinist is his son Emmanuel. Together with Magdalene Ho, the brilliant pianist from Malaysia who recently won the Clara Haskil Prize, they will play two major works from the trio repertoire: Beethoven’s “Ghost Trio,” a magnificent work in pre-romantic style with the ghost-like slow movement explaining the title. Then Dvořák’s “Dumky Trio” will offer a fine example of the Czech composer’s use of folk tunes, complete with whirling dances and plangent melancholy to enthrall the audience.
